Writers, After Hours

I know that an entire chunk of my time on this Earth has not been documented here, and it's going to be a little hard to relate to what's going on given the colossal gap between my last post and this one, but still, just for light reading, give it a go alright.

Here's what my accidental group of friends are up to.

And yes, accidental. Long story short on how I met and grew to be fond of this bunch, I used to be scared silly of these gangsters and constantly got my ass whopped by this gang.

Have a look at what these fellas are up to. They are no JK Rowlings, nor are they A. Samad Said, but they'll show you their insights on what makes them writers, what gets them passionate about the trade, the ins and outs of the publishing business, and also a standing as a little guiding hand for people who are thinking of starting out, but unsure how to or where to.

And having said that, have I stressed how HARD it is to be a writer??

Here are some some reasons why. Click on the title below to see for yourself.

19 Fears That Plague All Writers

Having been part of the same scene, I was thinking, hey, I can contribute too. And hey, 3 months has already passed and I have not lifted a finger to come up with anything, not even a remote thought to get things going.

But today, I finally started. A tiny start, but still one I'm going to allow myself to be proud of! I wrote my writer's profile!

May this be an actual impetus for my thoughts and words to flow from me once more.

About the writer:

AJ went to teacher's college only to become a copywriter by accident. When she is not writing as part of her job obligations or emotional detox, she can be found giving in to the temptations of desserts, fan-girling over Nina Dobrev and deliberating on the meaning of life. You can read her neglected blog at http://vanillanstrawberries.blogspot.my or catch more of her frivolous eccentricity on Instagram under @aj_aeyjae_.

Till the next one,

Give up your heart left broken
And let that mistake pass on
Cause the love that you lost
Wasn't worth what it cost
And in time you'll be glad it's gone

Note to self: must learn how to play this on the piano / must karaoke this.

Me: All or Nothing

yes, you love me, then again what is it about me that you love?

:: snapshot from an instagram caption of a dear friend of mine. more of his thoughts at http://abelnang.wordpress.com/ ::

I'm soft,
I forgive easily,
I let go of grudges,
I choose to remember only the good and kindness that people have extended to me,
I choose to ignore how others have hurt me.
so if you hate me for being able to let go and accept those who have wronged me, you don't even love me for who I am.

my flaws, whole and center,
my past, then and there.
make peace with them,
put it behind,
else there's never going to be a moving forward.

love me,
again...
love me,
or not at all...

Almost Settling Down

My life went from almost settling down to all the uncertainty in the world.

And I hate uncertainty.

Ignorance.

No, it is definitely not bliss.
But yet, so many of us still choose to remain so.
With our "don't care" attitude.
With our "buat tak tau" attitude.

What can I say?
I'm guilty of being like that as well. Sometimes. Most of the time.

Yes, we know.
Yes, we are aware.
Yes, we play our part in ensuring we do not contribute to the ongoing mess and havoc.
Yet what are we doing about it?

We standby and watch as things go from bad to worse.
We comment and sneer on social media.
We get sick of the endless loop of stupidity and injustice.
Yet we tolerate, tolerate, and tolerate over and over again.

Maybe we are able to justify our lack of action.
Maybe we'll just wait till someone else does something about it.
Maybe we are afraid that it would backfire and drag us down as well.
Yet all this does not make it okay.

Though with good intention, there is no confidence that we are able to make things even a little better.

The political scene in our country just makes me so sad.

Quoted from one of her facebook posts:

Tonight, before I go to sleep, I pray for my country.I pray that tolerance will reign over bigotry. I pray that moderation will reign over extremism. I pray that love will reign over hatred. I pray for the unity of this nation. I pray for a better Malaysia. God bless Malaysia.
- Yeo Bee Yin

I really really really wish things will get better, but it looks like it's only downhill from here.

It sickens us,
It pains us,
It saddens us to see all this happening.
Yet what can we do about it?

There's just so much we can do.
